About Us

The mission of the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System is providing retirement security for Arkansas's past, present, and future public education professionals. Our vision is to be a model retirement system that sustains the trust of its members and the people of Arkansas through prudent financial stewardship and exceptional customer service.

Since 1937, the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System (ATRS) has been providing retirement benefits to Arkansas's public school and education employees. ATRS pursues excellence in managing the pension fund and strives to deliver exemplary service to its members and stakeholders.

ATRS is a defined benefit plan for public school and other public education employees. It is administered as a "qualified" retirement plan under the provisions of IRS § 401(a). The state statutes contain the benefit provisions for our members at Arkansas Code §§ 24-7-201 et. seq., which are supplemented by ATRS Rules and Regulations.

Individual requests for access to ATRS's public records may be obtained by contacting ATRS by mail, telephone, fax or e-mail.

ATRS welcomes your comments and suggestions on our website, or with any other experience you have had with us. We care how you as an employer or member feel about our services, and would like to hear any suggestions on how we can improve this website or any of our services to better meet your needs.
